Carsten Ostenfeldt joins Nordic Tankers

CEO Carsten Ostenfeldt joins Nordic Tankers as Head of the Technical Organization and enters the executive management team. Henriette Schütze, formerly of DFDS, becomes new CFO.

Nordic Tankers has employed the 47-year-old CEO of Thome Ship Management in Singapore, Carsten Ostenfeldt, as Senior Vice President and Head of the Technical Organization. Ostenfeldt has worked for the Thome Group since 2010, first as Technical Director and then as Managing Director and CEO, and he will continue to serve on the Thome Group Board of Directors after January 1st 2015. Ostenfeldt, a trained engineer, began his career at Odense Steel Shipyard, then joined MAN SE in both Denmark and Germany, before heading to Asia. He also holds an an Executive MBA in Shipping and Logistics from Copenhagen Business School.

In addition to hiring Carsten Ostenfeldt, who will start his new job on January 1st 2015 and work out of the office in Copenhagen, Nordic Tankers has also hired 46-year-old Henriette Schütze as the carrier's new CFO. She will begin already tomorrow, October 1st, and replaces Jesper Fors Holmark as responsible for the company's finances. Henriette Schütze comes from a position as CFO and member of the executive management team at Georg Jensen, though she has previously served as Vice President at DFDS where she was in charge of areas including business control.

New executive management team

With the hiring of Carsten Ostenfeldt and Henriette Schütze, Nordic Tankers CEO Per Sylvester Jensen is completing the process of putting together a new management team - a process he launched after joining the company in February of this year. Back in the spring, he appointed Michael Adeltoft new Senior Vice President and Head of Chartering and Operations.

Per Sylvester Jensen has the following comment on the new appointments:

As Jesper Fors Holmark steps down as CFO, he also hands over all his responsibilities as CEO of Herning Shipping to Nordic Tankers CEO Per Sylvester Jensen.

Thome Ship Management opened an office in Copenhagen last year and appointed Stig Holm to head the office. Thome has subsequently signed contracts with several Danish-based carriers and management companies, including Nordic Shipholding.
