Digital ships could trigger next order boom

Uncertainties about environmental regulations and new standards for digitalization in shipping put a damper on newbuild orders in the years to come, says Danish Ship Finance in a new analysis.

The appetite for newbuilds in shipping seems to be returning after a 2017 that brought significantly more activity on the major shipyards. Especially late in the year compared to 2016. But a series of conditions indicate a more subdued ordering activity in the years to come.
