Subsea 7: Own ships in the US give much needed flexibility

In the future, Subsea 7 will be able to operate its own vessels in US waters. It gives some much needed flexibility, the company tells ShippingWatch.

The Luxembourg-based subsea installation company, Subsea 7 S.A., now wants to gain flexibility to use its own vessels in the North American market, where special US rules for foreign companies, the Jones Act, have so far forced the company to charter ships from third parties for use on its projects in the US Gulf of Mexico.
