
Mediterranean Shipping Company, MSC, is now taking additional steps toward becoming a more transparent and communicative carrier. The traditionally not very open Italian-owned and Geneva-based carrier told ShippingWatch earlier this year that it is working to become a more communicative company and to initiate dialogs with customers as well as the public.
The first step was to publish more information on a new website, and the carrier, owned by the Italian Aponte family, is now stepping onto social media - a venture for which the carrier has hired London-based Orca Social, whose Co-founder Jonathan Wichmann is a well-known figure in the shipping community, where he is probably best known for spearheading the Maersk Group's efforts to establish a social media profile.
