DFDS invests millions in Scottish route

DFDS Seaways and Scottish Forth Ports have entered into a deal with the Scottish government to invest millions in the last existing RoRo service between Scotland and the rest of Europe.

Danish DFDS, along with the Scottish company Forth Ports and the Scottish government, have agreed to invest USD 6.6 million on the RoRo route between Rosyth in Scotland and Zeebrugge in Belgium. The service is the only route for RoRo sailing between Scotland and the European continent.

"We are very pleased with the investment programme as it will secure a long-term perspective for the Rosyth-Zeebrugge route and enable companies to continue to use a direct, environmentally friendly means of transport between Scotland and the Continent," says Stein van Est, Route Director, DFDS Seaways, in a press release.
