Headhunters' favorite takes the reins at Maersk's Damco

That Klaus Rud Sejling would end up as Chief Executive of a Maersk company has been in the cards for years, according to people who know the man. They describe the ambitious CEO, who has yet to turn 40, as the model of a Maersk Chief Executive. ShippingWatch presents a portrait of Damco's new CEO.

Back in 2012, Klaus Rud Sejling, 34 at the time, was featured on the headhunters' lists of shining stars among a circle of young, ambitious executives viewed as future model Chief Executives.

On October 1st this year he will assume responsibility of 10.000 employees at the Maersk Group's logistics unit Damco, based in The Hague in the Netherlands, replacing Hanne B. Sørensen who has been working for the past three years to bring Damco back on track after years of deficits stemming mainly from impairments related to past and major acquisitions of logistics companies in Australia and China.
