DSME hit with billion dollar deficit

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) watched its numbers dive into the red with a deficit of USD 4.26 billion in 2015, report several media sources.

One of Korea's top shipbuilders, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) - also the second-largest in the world - has published its annual report for 2015, which perfectly illustrates the type of pressure that the yard industry is facing. The shipyard suffered a net loss of KRW 5.13 trillion, which corresponds to USD 4.26 billion, compared to a profit of KRW 33 billion, or USD 27.3 million, in 2014, according to several media sources.
