Nicaragua Canal project to begin in August

After one year's delay, the first phase of work on the Nicaragua Canal will begin in August, the Hong Kong-based developer behind the project tells Bloomberg. Despite rumors, the project is not affected by the slowdown in the Chinese share market.

Construction will begin in August on the large-scale project to build a canal through Nicaragua linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, informs HKND, the Hong Kong-based company behind the USD 50 billion project which has been held up for the past year, writes Bloomberg. The first phase of work will see the construction of a fuel terminal and ship wharf on the Pacific Ocean, forming part of a harbor.
