The acquisition of German Hamburg Süd is starting to leave marks on Maersk that published the financial results this week.
The carrier raises its guidance for how much it can earn in 2019 from the USD 4 million acquisition. But the global container market is also facing a slow-down and a range of risks.
"We don't have high expectations for growth," said CEO Søren Skou.
As ShippingWatch recently reported, a group of the world's largest container carriers launch a digital partnership to create standards for the container shipping industry. According to the spokesperson for the association, two or three shared standards for container liner companies should be ready already within six months.
On July 1, the use and transportation of heavy bunker oil by ships in the Arctic will be banned. A climate organization now accuses the ban of being full of loopholes.
