Number of pirate attacks declines to lowest level in decades

Not since 1994 has international shipping been hit by so few pirate attacks and armed robberies as in 2022’s first half-year period, shows a new report by the International Maritime Bureau.

Problems with pirates attacking merchant ships were decreasing in the year’s first six months compared to the first half-year period of 2021, and piracy has thereby declined to the lowest level since 1994.
