SeaIntel: 115 canceled container transports in 2013

Volatile freight rates on Asia-Europe have made container carriers cancel even more transports in 2013 than expected, says SeaIntel.

In 2013, carriers "sailed blank" even more than expected, according to an analysis by SeaIntel. 115 sailings have been canceled so far on the route, which corresponds to an annual capacity reduction of around six percent, or 1.1 million teu, says the analyst, and this is more than SeaIntel previously expected.
