Newly appointed Maersk Group CEO Søren Skou was fairly certain that a promising talent was in front of him when he met Henriette Thygesen for the first time. This was at the very beginning of the millennium when he served as head of Maersk Tankers, and Henriette Thygesen had been part of the Maersk Group for a number of years. Not much time passed before senior management had replaced the slightly more technical research work which she headed for the tanker carrier with a position as Manager of Damco in Shanghai.
