Shipbuilder DSME to axe 12000 employees

The workforce at Korean Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) will be reduced drastically in the coming years as part of the comprehensive efforts to bring the group's business back on track.

12,000 employees at South Korean shipyard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) will be laid off, explains CEO Jung Sung-leep at a press conference in Seoul on Thursday, reports The Korea Herald. The shipbuilder's workforce will be reduced to 30,000 employees ahead of 2019, he said.
